The Spero Project exists to provide avenues that move awareness into action. Specializing in "Next Step Networking," our passion is connecting people with the relationships and resources they need to take the 'next step' in confronting issues they care about in their local and global communities.
Spero=Latin for 'hope'
Though many years in the making in the hearts of the founders, The Spero Project is still a new organization. Begun as a blog to help small group leaders find creative and challenging ways to engage those in their groups to care for their local and global communities, The Spero Project has quickly evolved into an organization with a life of its own! At a critical time in its development, both the founders and several members of the Board of Directors began working extensively with the International Refugee population of Oklahoma City. It became evident that the organization needed to grow beyond the computer screen and function on a daily basis with those in need.
Skyline OKC was gracious to offer Pastoral guidance and accountability to the organization and helped us tremendously as we journeyed with The Lord, asking Him what Spero was to become. Through that season, the vision became more clear and the mission more focused. And becoming a 501(c)(3) Registered Non-Profit in June of 2009 allowed us to grow in scope.
A new partnership with LifeChurch.tv's Mercy Ministries (now known as Spero:Resource) has allowed us to participate in ministry we never dreamed possible and we are excited to work alongside such amazing staff and volunteers to care for those in need in our city. The 'history' of The Spero Project is just beginning and we're anticipating powerful things to come as we trust in Him to make His Name known through those who serve Him!
