Welcome Teams
Welcome & create belonging for newly arriving families who have experienced displacement. We want families to walk in the door and feel at peace. Helping create a place of sanctuary and rest means the world as our new neighbors adjust to life in OKC! Welcome Teams are a great way for a business, organization, faith community, or small group to participate in making OKC a place of belonging.
Welcome Teams cover the cost of the apartment set-up of all required furniture (gently used, preferably new) and household items.
Adult Education Classes & Tutoring
Classes and tutoring for both English and citizenship provide adults in the resettled community access to welcoming, tailored instruction and support.
You can be a part of helping our neighbors develop their language skills and pursue citizenship through teaching classes, assisting with classes, or tutoring individuals.
After School Student Support
Student Support creates community partnerships and nurturing environments that are welcoming and safe for students to grow and thrive. Whether that is through our weekly after school or summer programs or one-on-one tutoring opportunities, we would love to partner with you!
VOLUNTEER PROCESS
We offer a thorough volunteer orientation to ensure that volunteers engage new neighbors in healthy and sensitive ways. Our training is online and conducive to self-paced learning with helpful videos that cover Spero’s mission and values. After you complete the training and background check processes, you will be added to our online volunteer platform and will receive our biweekly newsletter where you can view current volunteer opportunities and get connected!
