Confidentiality Agreement *

Please read through each statement carefully.

I will not disclose the address/exact location of where our friends in the International Refugee Community live to individuals who will not be attending a Spero Project orientation. Please never give the name of an apartment complex or home address to news organizations, newspapers, or other media. Sadly, there are those who will take advantage of a vulnerable population and our clients typically trust most Americans whether they know them or not.

I will ask permission from The Spero Project staff before taking pictures of clients. I will receive additional permission to use these pictures for any purposes, including social networking sites. This is to ensure the safety of all clients, some of whom have fled to the United States as individuals targeted by their home governments.

I will never disclose any information I gain about clients in my interactions with them. I will be particularly careful in safeguarding personal information such as social security numbers if I see them when assisting clients with forms, applications, etc.

I will be sensitive when discussing clients and my work with them, especially on social networking sites. I will do my part as an advocate by understanding and expressing that they are individuals before they are refugees. For example, try to use the phrase, “I spend Monday evenings tutoring children from the International Refugee Community of OKC,” rather than, “I tutor refugee kids.”

I commit to consult The Spero Project staff before offering any financial resources or large donations to clients. We are at all times working to encourage sustainability among clients and can, on rare occasions, offer alternative methods of assisting clients that are more beneficial for their long-term acclamation to life in the United States.

Hold Harmless Agreement *

Please read each statement carefully. Check each box to agree to waiver

Waiver and Release: I waive, release and forever discharge the responsibility and hold harmless to The Spero Project and its directors, officers, employees, trustees, agents, successors, and assigns from any and all liability, claims as a result of personal injuries or property damage incurred while performing volunteer activities sustained to myself. I understand and acknowledge that this Release Discharges The Spero Project from any liability or claim that I may have against The Spero Project that may result from the volunteering services I provide to The Spero Project.

I am responsible for my own insurance coverage in the event of personal injury or illness as a result of participation in activities of the Spero Project. Further, I understand that The Spero Project does not assume any responsibility for or obligation to provide the Volunteer with financial or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health or disability benefits or insurance of any nature I expressly waive any such claim for compensation or liability on the part of The Spero Project beyond what may be offered freely by The Spero Project in the event of such injury or medical expenses incurred by the Volunteer.

Assumption of Risk: I understand that the services provided by me to The Spero Project may include activities that are inherently dangerous to me. I hereby expressly assume the risk of injury or harm to me from these activities and Release The Spero Project from all liability resulting from the services I provide as a volunteer or occurring while I am participating in events.

Medical Treatment: I, hereby release and forever discharge The Spero Project from any claim whatsoever which arises or may hereafter arise on account of any first-aid treatment or other medical services rendered in connection with an emergency during my tenure as a volunteer with The Spero Project.

I am of legal age and am freely signing this agreement. I have read this form and understand that by signing this form, I am giving up legal rights and remedies.
